Sometimes I wish The Houstonian could stream certain newsroom discussions online, and avid readers could hear a lot of the empty rhetoric that precedes the published work. Every once in a while the staff digresses from yapping about sports, movies and music topics.

Ron Paul and Ben Stein were on television recently debating what causes people to become terrorists. Though they are both Republicans, their conclusions could not have differed more. Steins explanation for their actions was simple. "Theyre terrorists and murderers because theyre psychos." Paul disagreed. He said they hate us "because were occupiers." But what causes terrorism anyway, and how should we fight it?

Sasquatch draws a metaphorical line in the sand and, like other "monster" sightings, beckons the masses to cross the line and assert their belief or stand in opposition to it. Upon reading the word "Bigfoot" most people automatically kick into one of two modes: rabid believer or dismissive

Can you keep a secret?Ok, well I love to sing. Very loudly, forcibly and badly.I feel sorry for the people who pull up next to me at stoplights. Those lucky few get to witness "Thomas Merka in Concert," which consists of me blasting my radio, dancing and singing at the top of my lungs to my steering wheel.
