At the end of January, four men were caught trying to infiltrate Senator Mary Landrieus (D-La.) office in New Orleans. They werent trying to steal anything, as was the case with Watergate, but were allegedly attempting to wiretap her phones in an effort to find why her lines had been jammed, preventing her from speaking to the people she represented.

I first heard of Groundhog Day in kindergarten. Apparently every Feb. 2, a groundhog emerges from his burrow. If he sees his shadow, we get six more weeks of winter. If not, we get an early spring. This was presented to us as fact.

When my editor initially tried to convince me to write for The Reflectors opinion section last August, my first thought was to decline. Not because I didnt want to commit the time to writing or because I had a problem with embarrassing myself in front of the entire university (or at least the three people who read my articles), but because opinions and I have had a troubled past.
