2/4/10 - They say the college years can be some of the best of a persons life, and its not hard to imagine why. Years after graduation, when University of Rhode Island students look back at their years spent in Kingston, theyll have much to reflect on.Theyll remember the friendships they made, the all-nighters around exam time, those fierce games of Oozeball, and the beauty of URIs sloping campus.

As I said in my final article last semester, I had proposed a referendum to the Student Government Association. If the SGA had voted to have the referendum happen, students would have been given a vote on anti-plagiarism tools that archive student work. The SGA did not vote to allow this referendum to happen, however the vote was six in favor, five against, and two abstaining.

2/3/10 - Dear Sex & the Cigar,Ive been dating my boyfriend for about five months now and hes never paid for anything. Weve never gone out to dinner on a real date because, quite honestly, I cant afford to pay for everything for both of us-Im a college student! When we first started dating, he asked me out to the movies and I assumed he was going to pay because it was a date.

Now you see it. Now you dont. Thanks to Proposition 8, in November of 2008 Californias LGBT residents witnessed a similar trick with their right to legally marry. Proposition 8, more commonly known among the LGBT community as "Proposition hate" revoked Californians right to same-sex marriages, which had only been passed in June of that year.

If you havent been into the revamped Wakehurst Student Center, you are in for a surprise. Im not talking about the fresh coat of bright blue paint or the stellar pool table or the ridiculously comfortable couches that just beg to be lounged in. Im talking about something thats been taken away, specifically, the big, blue recycling bins.

On Jan. 19, 2010 the Democratic Party and President Obama took a hard hit when Massachusetts chose to elect its first Republican United States Senator since 1972 to fill the late Edward Kennedys seat. As the Associated Press declared State Senator Scott Brown the winner, the Democrats filibuster proof majority in the Senate suddenly evaporated and key aspects of the Obama agenda came to a screeching halt.
